Abstract:

This interview was conducted June 27, 2011, as part of The Second Front: The Roadway, a documentary film funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration through the New York State Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee. Dr. Kennedy explains how the roadway itself can be a trigger for post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms. He further notes that many returning combat veterans use alcohol to self-medicate and repress their haunting nightmares, which adds to the risks they can bring to the highway.
