Abstract:

Campus sexual assaults are a major risk for students (and also staff and faculty), with females at much higher risk but males also vulnerable. In addition, many students come to colleges and universities with prior histories of sexual assaults. Whether of recent or previous history, sexual assaults can have shortterm and long-term effects, particularly if not treated effectively. Many of these effects can seriously affect the student’s success at school. In order to minimize students’ risk of sexual assault and to facilitate their healing in the event of an assault, ICASA, the Intercollegiate Coalition Against Sexual Assault, has promulgated a number of materials which are ideal for campus use. They are also good models for use outside the campus community. All of the tools have current information clearly, but concisely, presented.
