U.S. Department of Education Letter Raises Significant Issues on Title IX

Abstract:
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 provides that institutions receiving federal funds offer equal education opportunities for men and women. Colleges have to be guided not only by court decisions but also by pronouncements from the U.S. Department of Education. This article explores the “Dear Colleague” letter, certain parts that raise new concerns, and other parts may be directly contrary to existing statutes and case law.Keywords: Jennings v.
