Abstract:
This article is an abbreviated version of Campus Attacks: Targeted Violence Affecting Institutions of Higher Education by D. Drysdale, W. Modzeleski & A. Simons. The article has been printed in two parts. The first part, printed in the previous issue of CSSD , covered background information, definitions of the types of institutions included in the study, a description of campus crime, and information about the location of incidents and the relationship between offender and victim. This second part of the article discusses qualitative observations, including factors that motivate the attack. There are also general observations about the subject population and the types of criminal behaviors involved in these incidents.Keywords: motivation factors; specific target; random; collateral; pre-incident behavior; psychiatric or psychological symptoms; threat assessment
