Abstract:

In this article, Joyce Shotick and Alan Galsky report on traditional-age freshman college students’ perceptions and beliefs about academic dishonesty at a private university. By combining survey results with analysis of an incident in which a student admitted to three years of academic dishonesty, they conclude that to construct a community of character, faculty and student affairs professionals must define, identify, and evaluate student integrity through justice and compassion.
