Abstract:

This article discusses two incidents; a suicide at M.I.T and the shootings at Virginia Tech. It looks at the idea of a Case Management Team, a team of deans, social workers, and other administrators that look at the cases of students deemed “at risk” and form a plan to help them and prevent them from harming themselves and others. It looks at the advantages but also the legal disadvantages of taking on that responsibility.
