Abstract:

On September 12, 2012, Bernard Victorianne was arrested for driving under the influence. The jail medical staff knew of Bernard’s overdose symptoms, yet failed to monitor his medical condition. In September 2014, a complaint was filed in federal court alleging that his death was needless and resulted from the jail’s deliberate indifference to the detainee’s serious medical needs.
