Abstract:

This is Part II of a two-part article that explores the state of the art in assessing the costs and benefits of community corrections programs. Part I, which appeared in the last issue of JCC, reviewed cost-benefit analysis and its value for both social policy makers and private enterprise. Part II reviews what is known about the costs and benefits of specific program types— such as drug treatment, home detention, and educational programs—and identifies important gaps in our knowledge.
