Abstract:
This issue of JCC includes a brief article by David Farabee. It is actually a summary of a monograph he wrote last year entitled Rethinking Rehabilitation: Why We Can’t Reform Our Criminals (AEI Press, 2005), and the proverbial dust has not yet settled on the controversy Rethinking Rehabilitation has caused in the treatment community.I don’t know if Farabee is right. His thesis “sounds” right; however, the thesis itself cautions against following what just sounds right. Nevertheless, regardless of whether he is right or wrong, it is refreshing to hear a voice on the side of free will in these times of entitlement and excuses by determinism. Keywords:
