Abstract:

In community corrections, it has been known that the majority of our clients have some type of substance abuse problem. What has not been as evident is that, over the past 10 years, greater numbers of our clients have been found to have serious mental health symptoms and treatable diagnoses. This increased convergence has necessitated a need for more sophisticated ways to look at and to treat co-occurring substance abuse and mental health disorders.
