Abstract:
This paper reviews some of the healthcare needs of justice-involved opioid dependent individuals, discusses implications for individual and public health, and identifies some practical strategies that agencies can use to more effectively address the needs of this population, with the goals of improving client health, public health, and public safety.Keywords: Opioid use disorder (OUD), justice-involved individuals, drug overdose death rates, community corrections agencies, co-occurring disorders
