Abstract:

Congress established the Charles Colson Task Force on Federal Corrections to examine the challenges faced by the federal corrections system. The task force consists of nine members chaired by former Representative J.C. Watts, Jr. This bipartisan blue ribbon task force is mandated to develop practical, data-driven policy responses to the challenges encountered by federal corrections, especially as they relate to making the system safer, less costly, and more humane. The task force is to report its findings and recommendations to Congress, the Department of Justice, and the President at the end of 2015. This article reports the testimony of ICCA President Phil Nunes to the task force on March 11, 2015.
