Abstract: 

Reviews significant cases including one in which a New York Court recently held that a charitable remainder trust could proceed with a lawsuit against its accountant, who facilitated the investment of the trust assets in the Madoff operation; and a Tax Court case ruling on expense substantiation that allowed a charitable deduction for unreimbursed expenses incurred by a volunteer for an organization devoted to spaying and neutering feral cats.
