Abstract:
Endowments and foundations play a critical role in the economy of the United States. Even without taking into account the substantial wealth held in university endowments, private and community foundations hold almost $500 billion in assets and provide more than $30 billion annually to support education, the arts, medicine, science, the environment, technological research, and a multitude of other programs. Keywords:
