Charitable Lead Trusts: Benefits Most foundation advisors are familiar with the benefits available from a charitable lead trust (CLT). This device provides an income stream to charity for a stated period, after which the assets remaining in the trust pass to family beneficiaries. Thus, the CLT is in many respects the mirrorimage of the CRT, which provides current distributions to individuals with the remainder to charity.
