Abstract:
Form 1023-EZ has made life simpler for individuals and organizations seeking quick approval of non-profit foundation status, but the IRS has concluded, from its own internal review, that approval rates are too high, and subsequent audits have revealed a number of organizations that have been granted exempt status that, under law, did not truly qualify. The result will, according to the TE/GE, mean expanded compliance efforts—in other words, more audits. Keywords: Form 1023-Z Predetermination Reviews
