Abstract:
On December 2, 2015, the IRS released its Form 1023-EZ First Year Report which both describes the success of Form 1023-EZ and suggests ways that the form’s use, and processing, can be improved. This article summarizes the main findings of the report, highlights the most common problems in completing the form that can lead to rejections, and suggests ways practitioners can improve their use of the streamlined exemption application as experience with the form grows.Keywords: Form 1023-EZ qualification; predetermination review; correspondence audits
