Abstract:
On January 10, 2018, National Taxpayer Advocate Nina E. Olson presented to Congress her annual report (the “Report”), which identifies the most serious problems facing taxpayers and suggests ways to fix them. The Report also identifies the 10 tax issues most litigated in federal courts and offers recommendations to mitigate the disputes that result in litigation. By identifying challenges in the tax system, the Report indirectly suggests areas where practitioners and advisors can provide valuable guidance to their clients—and it covers several issues that affect foundations. Keywords: 1023-EZ; Charitable Contribution Deduction Disputes; Substantiation Requirements
