Abstract: 

This research update reviews the latest research on some of the most widely used risk assessment instruments for adolescent sex offenders, detailing their construction, clinical utility, and their strengths and weaknesses. A discussion of some of the lingering inherent barriers to achieving a more accurate predictive ability for these instruments follows. Finally, the review maps some promising potential new directions for the assessment of adolescent sexual offenders for the future.
