Legislative Report Calls for Revisions to Virginia's Civil Commitment System

Abstract:
In November 2011, the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission (JLARC) of the Virginia General Assembly released a detailed report calling for revisions to the Commonwealth’s sex offender civil commitment (SOCC) program, including its systems of case review and assessment, legal commitment, institutional treatment, and conditional release.
