Sex Offender Law Report

< previous article |next article > |return to table of contents

Abstract:

Although the overwhelming percentage of sex offenders are men, it is clear that there are some women sex offenders and that this is a topic largely unrecognized and ignored. This lack of attention is regrettable for those who have been victims of female sex offenders, as they are far less likely to be believed and shown understanding and sympathy. In cases where the victim’s mother or female caretaker is the offender, the victim may well feel a greater breach of trust than incest victims of male perpetrators.
