Abstract: 

As an aggressive, boundary-pushing response to sexual violence, sexually violent person (SVP) commitment laws have spawned prolific litigation. The Supreme Court has issued two recent decisions on the subject, and briefing is underway in a third Supreme Court case. Lower court decisions continue to address important issues.
