Abstract:
The Sex Offender Registration Act (SORA) was passed by the New York State Legislature in memory of 7-year-old Megan Kanka who was abducted, sexually assaulted, and murdered by her neighbor shortly after he had been released from prison for a sex offense. SORA established a system for the classification of sex offenders and the dissemination of information about convicted sex offenders, including public access to that information. Keywords:
