Abstract:
Registration and community notification laws are constantly evolving. Civic Research Institute publishes a compilation of state and federal laws related to registration and notification, which is updated every 18 to 24 months. This compilation, Registration and Community Notification: A “Megan’s Law” Sourcebook, contains the laws, guidelines, and case law related to Megan’s Law federally and in every state. (To order, visit http://www.CivicResearchInstitute.com/co1 5b.html.) The purpose of the book is to keep academics and practitioners up-to-date with regulations as well as case decisions that relate to constitutional issues and regulatory guidelines. Because the courts assess cases so regularly, however, we have decided to create a column in Sex Offender Law Report that highlights case law as it happens. This edition of SLR contains recent cases related to due process, challenges to risk level and classification, and failure to register. Keywords:
