Sex Offender Law Report

< previous article |next article > |return to table of contents

Abstract:

This is the fifth part of an article by John Furlong, as he takes the reader through the legal process of a sexually violent legislation case in New Jersey. It describes efforts to obtain some measure of equity and due process for inmates trapped in what are called “Special Treatment Units” under New Jersey’s Sexually Violent Predator Act (SVPA). In prior articles, we described the conditions of confinement, as well as the highly suspect process for getting committed in the first place.
