Abstract:
The first part of this article, which appeared in 9 (3) SLR 33 (Apr./May 2008), covered the events surrounding the rape allegations against the Duke lacrosse team, the investigation of the allegations, and the indictments. Part II, which appeared in 9 (4) SLR 4 9 (Jun./ Jul. 2008), described the indictments that were brought against the players, as well as the effects of the outcry on campus and in the wider community. Part III explained the University’s reaction to the case both in terms of its assessment of its own handling of the charges, and its overall assessment of the players as students and members of the campus community. (Roslyn Myers, “Duke Lacrosse Case: Race, Class, and Prosecutorial Misconduct, Part III,“ 9 (5) SLR 75 (Aug./Sept. 2008).) Part IV, below, discusses the charges against Michael Nifong and how this case set the stage for potential criminal justice reform. Keywords:
