Abstract:

Prevention is the current focus of many crime-related programs, particularly programs related to sexual offenses, and many college campuses have initiated programs designed to educate and increase awareness about sex crimes. Few, however, have focused their training on bystander intervention. The article below is the second of a two-part article detailing a study of student bystander prevention training and the attitudes that result from participation in such programs. Part I appeared in a previous issue of SLR. (Mary M. Moynihan, Ph.D., and VictoriaL. Banyard, Ph.D., “Educating Bystanders Helps Prevent Sexual Violence and Reduce Backlash, Part I,” 11(5) SLR 69 (Aug./ Sept. 2010).)
