Abstract:

In a recent case, a two-star general in the U.S. Air Force was found guilty of sexual assault in violation of Article 120 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. This conviction was the first court-martial for sexual assault of a general officer in the military branch’s 74-year history. Aside from the breakthrough for victims, the case demonstrates that high-ranking officers may find that their rank no longer permits them to engage in inappropriate behavior with impunity.
