Abstract:
This article focuses on adolescents with histories of sexual offenses, both adjudicated and not. Together, these juveniles comprise a very heterogeneous group. They differ in ages and developmental status, developmental histories, family supports, maltreatment and trauma histories, motivations for offending, the types and number of past offenses, victim characteristics, risk and protective factors, as well as gender, race, and culture. It is not surprising that their intervention needs vary as well. Keywords: Mitigating Risks and Promoting Healthy Development; Risk-Need-Responsivity Model; Protective Factors; Overcoming Barriers to Interventions; Addressing Significant Problems With Assessments; Evidence-Informed Scales; Continuum of Care
