Abstract: 

Our regular review of the research literature this issue addresses “The Biasing Effect of the “Sexually Violent Predator” Label on Legal Decisions” by Nicholas Scurich, Jennifer Gongola, & Daniel Krauss, the authors of this article examined whether a juror bias against sex offenders can help explain why juries often authorize commitment once a SVP hearing has been initiated; “Post-Hospitalization Outcomes for Psychiatric Sex Offenders: Comparing Two Treatment Protocols” by Jill Stinson, Lee Ann McVay, & Judith Becker, the authors of this study examine the effectiveness of the SOS intervention in comparison with a relapse prevention (RP) intervention in improving the post-release outcomes of sex offenders residing in forensic mental health inpatient facilities; and “The From Survivor to Thriver Program: RCT of an Online Therapist-Facilitated Program for Rape-Related PTSD” by Heather Littleton, Amie Grills, Katherine Kline, Alexander Schoemann, & Julia Dodd, the authors of this article examined its effectiveness in improving the mental health outcomes in a sample of female college students.
