Abstract:

The Spokane Catholic Diocese, which filed for bankruptcy protection in the wake of claims of abuse by numerous victims, recently agreed, subject to approval by victims and another bankruptcy judge, to pay at least $48 million to people molested by priests as a part of a deal to emerge from bankruptcy. The Federal Bankruptcy court remarked that the settlement would provide survivors “with some measure of closure and allow them to move forward and continue the healing process.”
