Abstract:
Older people are vulnerable to abuse in a number of ways. They may be married to violent partners. They may be in institutions. Or they may be victimized by their own children or other family members. Victimization of elders is likely more common than previously believed. Health is one risk factor for abuse, and this includes both the health of the victim and that of the caregiver. In this article, the author describes the many ways that victim or caregiver health problems can put elders at risk for abuse, and what advocates can do to lower risk.Keywords:
