Abstract: 

Shirley Krohn, a member of the California Senior Legislature, which advocates for the well-being of senior citizens of that state, provides a fi rst-person account of the common scams and con-jobs that frequently target older persons. Through what she learned from her own encounters with, for example, highpressure timeshare salespersons and banks pushing complicated reverse mortgages onto unknowing senior citizens, Ms. Krohn provides persuasive warnings about how common these scams are and how easy it is to persuade a person to sign on the dotted line, not knowing that doing so is decidedly against their own best interests.
