Abstract:
Law enforcement professionals may be trained to understand sexual assault in general, but this training often specifically fails to address sexual assault of elderly or disabled people. In this article, the author describes and reviews a major textbook in criminal justice dealing with sexual assault, Practical Aspects of Rape Investigation, 4th Edition, by Robert Hazelwood and Ann Wolbert Burgess. The author provides a summary of case studies involving the elderly, examines characteristics of rapists of the elderly, and offers advice for counselors, investigators, prosecutors, and victims. Keywords:
