Abstract: 

In this article the spotlight is turned on inadequate nursing facilities as well as the performance of regulatory agencies that govern them and explores resolutions to common nursing home issues with informative tips extracted from a webinar by Eric Carlson of Justice in Aging. Additional coverage of a report authored by Richard J. Mollot examines the performance of state survey agencies in protecting nursing home residents by identifying harm, penalizing facilities for neglect and abuse, preventing inappropriate use of antipsychotic drugs, insisting on prevention and proper treatment of bedsores, and maintaining adequate staffing.
