Abstract:

Here, legal expert and frequent contributor Barry Goldstein provides a comprehensive overview of the family court system’s failures to protect those who are supposed to be its primary beneficiaries—that is, children and families impacted by domestic violence. By underscoring the findings from studies on Adverse Childhood Experiences, Mr. Goldstein reveals the damning evidence for the severity of the harms posed to children by such failures. With the findings from the ACE studies having been available for over two decades now, one is left with just once conclusion: that the court’s failure to protect children, at this late stage, is now inexcusable and cries out for remediation.
