Abstract:

Jessie Slafter provides crucial information about the challenges faced by sexually exploited children and the steps that ought to be taken to ensure these children are fairly and effectively served by the criminal justice system. Using the case of Veronica, the author argues that interventions should tailored to the specific needs of the individual rather than catering to the opinions of professionals. This article advocates for innovations like the Harm Reduction Approach, which provides helping professionals with the resources needed to more effectively support the unique needs of these vulnerable young persons.
