Abstract:

A staff attorney at the Louisiana Coalition against Domestic Violence examines how legislation introduced in 2014 and enacted with the help of efforts by domestic violence advocates has provided Louisiana DV victims with robust legal protections unavailable to victims in most states. These include increased number of fault grounds for divorce, improved financial assistance, and the addition of protections for DV survivors in custody and visitation proceedings.
