Abstract:
Awareness of sexual assault in general has risen over the past 30 years. But acknowledgment of sexual assault of elders has consistently lagged behind. This article describes sexual assault of elders by relatives, partners, or care providers. Not only are older women at risk for sexual assault, they are more vulnerable to both physical and psychological harm. The authors outline the challenges faced by care providers and investigators, and provide tips for screening and reporting elder abuse to authorities. Keywords:
