Abstract:
The damaging effects of being abused on a child do not end when childhood does; instead, child abuse sets the person up for a host of lifelong risky, even lethal behavior patterns, including suicide and unprotected sex that may lead to sexually transmitted diseases like HIV.Keywords: increased risks of suicidal ideation, suicide attempts, borderline personality disorder, and PTSD; early initiation into consensual sexual activity, many sexual partners, and risky sexual practices; substance abuse; Sexually transmitted diseases
