Abstract:

The Everytown for Gun Safety movement works to expose the flaws and loopholes in U.S. gun laws that contribute to mass shootings and violence against women. These include the selling of weapons by unlicensed private sellers who fail to conduct background checks on potential buyers. Two mass shootings, in particular, prompted this group to point out the connections between gun violence and violence against women. Here, Everytown for Gun Safety addresses and offers suggestions to fill in the gaps from which firearms legislation currently suffers.
