Abstract:
Roslyn K. Myers reviews a workbook developed by Dr. Nora J. Baladerian entitled, A Risk Reduction Workbook for Parents and Service Providers. The workbook walks parents and providers through the rationales and process for establishing a program specifi cally aimed to prevent and combat the abuse of adults and children with disabilities. There is no question that this is a much needed resource that ought to be put into the hands of every provider of services to the disabled, a population that is sadly destined to grow by leaps and bounds, given the growing prevalence of neurological disorders, such as autism in children and dementia in the elderly, in the U.S. population. Keywords: Maltreatment of Children With Disabilities; intellectual and developmental disabilities; ability to communicate; prevention education; identify and report; disclosure and preserving evidence
