Abstract:

Domestic violence experts are keenly aware of the early onset of intimate partner violence; it often starts in the teen years, and in both straight and gay relationships. In this article, the authors describe a powerful antidote to teen dating violence, a program called Start Strong: Building Healthy Teen Relationships. As you will learn, this initiative helps promote healthy teen relationships using education, peer mentoring, social media, and other modalities. In sum, Strong Start is an innovative and promising primary prevention program for combating domestic violence before it starts.
