Abstract:

Here advocates learn about the many forms of relief available to immigrant battered women through the provisions of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and other federal laws and mandates. This is absolutely crucial information for attorneys helping immigrant clients, as the application of one or more of these provisions can spell the difference between a client’s getting deported versus being allowed to remain in the U.S.—in many cases, truly the difference between life or death.
