Abstract:

This article comprises a powerful indictment of the failures of the family court system to meet one of its primary charges, which is to protect children from the machinations of an abusive parent. In this original piece, author Grant Wyeth places special focus on one of the prime movers of bad custody decisions--the pseudo-scientific theory known as Parental Alienation. As he aptly demonstrates, this misogynistic invention has a long history of being successfully used by Mens Rights Activists (MRAs) to shift the focus of responsibility away from the abuser and toward the victim(s). Anyone seeking to understand how and why child custody litigation so often results in the endangerment rather than the protection of vulnerable parties will find in this article a quick primer on the sordid strategies used by abusers and their collaborating authorities against our society’s most vulnerable citizens.
