Abstract:
Family voice and choice are among the most important values of a system of care (SOC) approach to child and adolescent mental health. Accomplishing the fulfillment of these values is difficult, however, and there are few methodological tools to evaluate the degree to which they are implemented, particularly in SOC activities that lie outside of clinical encounters and child and family team meetings. It is particularly important to develop systematic evaluation practices of youth and family members, multiple service agencies, and community partners in the day-to-day interactions that influence SOC decision making. Keywords: children’s mental health initiative; strengths-based; family-oriented; community-based initiatives; lead family contact; family-driven care; verbal contributions
