Abstract: 

For people invested in improving the lives of youth with emotional and behavioral challenges, this is a profoundly discouraging economic and political environment. Just as our field has begun to learn how to translate research on “what works” into evidence-based systems that can markedly improve the lives of these youth and their families, we enter an era marked by severe economic distress, budget cuts, and outright hostility toward the idea of collective societal effort on behalf of vulnerable populations.
