Abstract:
In this panel, three tax lawyers "walked through" a tax opinion and what goes into it, what reliance there may be within that tax opinion, the "exploding" tax opinion, disclosure of tax risk and the the disagreement as to whether or not more tax disclosure is a good thing or may actually increase liability, and finally, the determination of taxability provisions. Panelists included Ed Nahmias, Vice President, Capital Research Company; Richard Chirls, a partner at Orrick, Herrington, and Leslie Richards-Yellen, principal and associate counsel at Vanguard.Keywords:
