Abstract:

Although the September 11 terrorist attacks have drawn special attention to corporate aviation interest in corporate aviation has been steadily increasing for many years. According to the National Business Aviation Association, in 1991, 6,584 companies in the United States operated 9,504 fixed-wing turbine-powered business aircraft. By 2000, this had grown to 9,317 companies operating 14,079 aircraft, representing an increase of more than 48% in the number of aircraft. Indeed, the international jet fleet has more than doubled in size since 1980.
