Abstract:

The formation of the Department of Justice’s (DOJ’s) National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team is a clear sign that prosecutors and regulators are continuing to focus enforcement efforts on the use of cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies in criminal activity. Companies in the cryptocurrency industry, or with business interests in the cryptocurrency space, should anticipate potential DOJ scrutiny. Evaluating and update compliance programs is one way to help mitigate that risk.
